The officers and members of the Environmental Commission (ECO-COM), the eco-friendly club of Trinity University of Asia, joined the environmental campaign that was organized by the Manila Ocean Park entitled “I LOVE MY OCEAN PLANET” last November 16, 2013 in Manila. TUA attendees were sponsored by the Student Affairs Center through its Lakbay Aral program and were accompanied by Ms. Lea Degay from SAC.
Club members who attended the said event were able to experience fun and have learned about environmental conservation especially marine preservation. Participants were engaged into different interactive activities such as feeding the birds (lawin), encounter with stingrays, and see different kinds of aquatic species—like jelly fish, penguins, sharks, and a variety of colorful clown fishes. They were also able to watch the Sea Lions perform and see the feeding process of the marine creatures. The participants were given the opportunity to tour the “Back of the House”, the Ocean Park’s water filtration facility after which a short lecture about maritime safeguarding was given. Trinitians were able to experience Antartica through the Snow Village where they’ve enjoyed the zero –degree Celsius adaptation of the earth’s poles. By the end of the day, Trinitians who attended the event were able to say indeed, “I LOVE MY OCEAN PLANET!”
