The Psychology Society in cooperation with the Freudian Slip, CAS-Student Council and Central Student Council organized a mental health seminar and Pinoy Laughter Yoga session entitled: “LAUGH OUT STRESS” last February 24, 2014 at the Mandell Hall Auditorium. The activity was opened to all Trinitians.
During his opening remarks, Seminar Chairman and Freudian Slip Editor-in-Chief, Dennis Christopher Alfred Sajo encouraged the audience to actively participate in the whole session. For as a student himself, he believes that after a long year of stress from school works, it is about time students need to relax and pause for a while in order for their brain to refresh and work even more efficiently.
Guest Speaker Dr. Hector M. Perez, Program Head of the Psychology Department of the Far Eastern University Manila discussed the common mental health problems, issues and concerns of adolescents. He recommended techniques to reduce and combat prevalent stressors.
A Laughter Yoga Session with the Founder of Pinoy Laughter Yoga, Paolo Martin L. Trinidad followed Dr. Perez’s lecture. Mr. Trinidad also taught the audience how to laugh “scientifically” and shared the health benefits of Laughter to one’s immune system. He also asked the students’ help in promoting the advocacy of Laughter Yoga in lifting national identity, unity and well being.
Professor Pedrito Aton, Adviser of the Psychology Society concluded the activity by thanking the attendees, reminding that whatever has been learned and experienced during the 4-hour activity would be best applied to our daily lives.
