Trinity University of Asia sends delegates to the “National Conference for Student Service Administrators and Advisers of International Students.” The said conference was held last May 29-30, 2014 at the University Hotel, UP Diliman, Quezon City. Hosted by Philippine International Friendship and Understanding Association, Inc. (PIFUA), the conference adopted the theme “Essentials of International Student Programs Management.”
The conference served as an avenue for sharing of the best practices and management of international student programs among the participating higher education institutions. The proceedings encouraged the delegates to create and promote a more need based programs and activities that will ensure a smooth and healthy adjustment of the international students while pursuing their degrees in the Philippines.
The TUA delegation was headed by Ms. Leonora N. Yngente, Vice President for Administration and Finance, together with Dr. Iluminada Castigador, University Registrar, Mr. Dennis Abellera, Alumni Coordinator/ International Partnership Section and Mr. Homer C. Balmes, Student Development and Training Program Assistant from Student Affairs Center. This is a manifestation of TUA’s commitment in providing quality education and ensuring a conducive learning environment not only to its local students but also to the growing international student population. To date, Trinity University of Asia is home to one hundred and fifty-five (155) international students from various countries.
At present, TUA has an existing student development program that caters to the needs of international students. Moreover, the Student Affairs Center in collaboration with International Partnership Section under the Office of the University President, are implementing the institutionalization of iCARE (International Students: Cultural integration, Access, and Responsive student Engagement) Program, that will address the common concerns and issues and further enhance the international student development programs management.
