Education Department conducted a Learning Session

The Education Department, in partnership with the Organization for Future Teachers, held its learning session on August 22, 2019. The theme for the event was Literacy and Writing for Children. The event was attended by students and faculty members under the Education Department and the Department of Languages and Contemporary Human Studies. Students from Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU), Taiwan, who were having their Intensive English Language Course also participated in the event.

The keynote speaker was Asst. Prof. II Frances Kristine V. Canon, a distinguished Filipino children’s book author, a school Executive Director, an educator, and an advocate of values propagation among others. Prof. Canon spoke about her love for literature, the significance of reading, and its impact on children. She emphasized the use of story books and picture books with various genres that can help young learners hone their holistic development. She also shared some tips on which books teachers may use for teaching young students – books with values, poetry, beauty and order which something children can relate with. (Danica L.
