GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS, POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

The rules and regulations in the TUA Student Handbook apply to all students who are enrolled in the Graduate School and in any of the five (6) collegiate academic units of the College, namely: Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, Education, Hospitality & Tourism Management, Medical Technology, and Nursing. Upon enrollment, students agree to abide by these rules and regulations and conduct themselves so as to maintain order and discipline within the campus, preserve the fair and noble name of the College and actualize her Mission .

Aside from the norms contained in this handbook, the University administration shall inform the student body of official business through various channels such as bulletin boards, special manuals, announcements and memoranda.

The administrative authority of the University is vested on the University President. As a bonafide student of Trinity University of Asia, one is subject to this authority to conform to the spirit of the on-going policies set by the academic community.

GENERAL DIRECTIVES

A. All students enrolled in any of the six (7) collegiate academic units must be familiar with the contents of the TUA Student Handbook. Ignorance of the provisions stated herein does not excuse any student from stipulated sanctions.

B. All incoming freshmen, transferees, and foreign students will be given a copy of this handbook upon enrollment by the Office of Student Affairs (OSA). They will be asked to sign a certification that they have received their copy.

C. All students are encouraged to attend religious activities sponsored by the University.

D. The Angelus is observed at 12 noon and 3pm . All are enjoined to keep silence and participate in the prayer.

E. The University does not approve of or recognize fraternities and sororities and their initiation rites. This especially holds true for hazing of any kind or the involvement of students in such illegal practices. Any student found to be involved in such activities will be expelled from the University.

F. Trinity University of Asia is a smoke-free and liquor-free campus. Students are not allowed to smoke or drink alcoholic beverages when in uniform and whether within the Cathedral Heights compound or beyond. Smoking and drinking in campus are considered major offenses.

G. All students shall show courtesy to school officials, faculty members, staff, security guards, and co-students.

H. All students shall present themselves for each class equipped with the materials required. Pen, paper/notebook must always be on hand.

I. Each student enrolled in the University is issued an official identification card with a computer-registered student number, which is valid as long as he is connected with the University. He must always wear his ID while on campus. Upon request, he must present this to school officials or authorities when entering the University grounds. A student who fails to present his ID when requested by school authorities shall be considered an intruder and may be required to leave the school premises.

J. The ID card is the primary instrument of campus transactions such as borrowing books in the library, borrowing equipment in the IMC or the CHK, seeking medical aid from the Medical Clinic, requesting credentials from the Office of the Registrar, etc.

K. The loss of an ID card should be reported immediately to the Office of the Registrar who will authorize the release of a new ID card upon payment of required fee to the University Cashier. Loss of an ID will require the student to present an affidavit of loss from a notary public before applying for a new ID. In case of recovery of lost ID, the surrender of such to the Office of the Registrar will allow the student to cancel one record loss.

L. During the term for which the student is enrolled, he must present his ID card to the Office of the Registrar at the beginning of each semester/summer to be countersigned in an appropriate space provided behind the card. An ID card not countersigned is considered null and void. The carrier shall be considered an intruder and will be required to leave the school premises.

M. Upon admission to TUA, the student is regarded as a responsible adult by University authorities. Hence, the obligation to keep parents/guardians updated of academic standing and consequences of excess absence or failure lies with the student. Notices thereof that may be sent by the University to parents/guardians are merely by way of courtesy.

N. Students who have transferred residence or have changed their civil status shall inform the Office of the Registrar in writing about this matter at the earliest possible time. Students are liable for incorrect information on their ID, registration form and other school documents. A letter sent to the written address will be considered delivered.

O. No student activities are allowed beyond the curfew hour of 9:30 pm . The campus shall be cleared of all unauthorized persons by that time. Students shall go home immediately after the last class period in the evening.

P. Announcements are allowed only on bulletin boards. Walls are not used as bulletin boards. Printed student announcements which need to be posted require the approval of the OSA.

Q. Typhoons and Suspension of Classes:

1. Undergraduate classes continue unless an announcement of suspension is made by the College President through media. This announcement shall be made before the first class in the morning.

2. In case the typhoon is announced in the middle of the day, undergraduate and graduate classes continue, unless an announcement of suspension is made by University President through the College public address based in the Chaplain's Office.

3. If Typhoon Signal No. 2 is hoisted before the beginning of classes in the morning, graduate and undergraduate students should come to class unless told otherwise by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) through radio and television.

4. If Typhoon Signal No. 3 or 4 is up, the campus shall be closed. All activities are suspended.

5. In cases of severe flooding, the University President shall suspend classes even in the absence of a typhoon signal. The same goes for transportation strikes.
