THE PARTNER COMMUNITIES

Participants of the Service-Learning program shall render services related to the existing programs in communities that TUA has established partnership with. These are:

• Barangay Santo Domingo – entrepreneurship, women and elderly empowerment
• Barangay Tatalon (Araneta 630) – health and nutrition
• Barangay Kalusugan – health and wellness program for the elderly
• Barangay San Rafael, Rodriguez, Rizal – exclusive for BS Nursing participants only

Due to on-going COVID-19 pandemic, programs for communities that cater to children are suspended, as most of them are not vaccinated yet.

As a precaution, participants shall visit the communities every other day to minimize physical contact with the residents. Wearing of face mask at all times is required when immersing in communities.

Contingency plans are in place in case of sudden changes in alert level and national health protocols of the Republic of the Philippines.

Broadway, Barangay Kalusugan

The community where Trinity University of Asia college campus belongs. The area of engagement can be reached through walking since it is just about 200-300 meters away from the campus. The average period of residency of the members in this community range from 15 to 20 years.

– Health and Wellness programs for the elderly

Araneta 630, Barangay Tatalon

This community is one of the areas of Barangay Tatalon. It is located almost at the edge of the river, making this place flooded during heavy rains and typhoons. Also, the members of this community are informal settlers who took their chances of better living in the City as they migrated from the provinces of Visayas and Mindanao. Others opted to be an informal settler despite being recipient of housing project of the government due to the lack of basic necessities in the relocation site. This area is about 500 meters away from the University and can be reached by walking or through riding a jeepney (public transportation vehicle).

Barangay Sto. Domingo

This is one of the areas of Barangay Sto. Domingo where regular community engagement programs are conducted and initiated by faculty and students of Trinity University of Asia. The area is situated near the commercial arena of the city yet it is also a road near to a river that usually flows out during heavy rains and typhoons. The average period of residency of the members in this community is between 15 to 20 years while there are informal settlers who have been living in this community for more than 10 years. This is the farthest partner community in Quezon City located about 2 to 3 kilometers away from the University. It can be reached through riding two (2) jeepneys and tricycle (public transportation vehicle)

Barangay San Rafael, Rodriguez Rizal

A rural-urban community where the St. Luke’s College of Nursing conducts their Related Learning Experience (RLE) to which they facilitate Family Nursing Care Plan assessment and implementation through immunization with children, health education sessions on children and maternal care as well as the elderly. For this year, the community will have a comprehensive program that will address not only health but also literacy and economic issues and concerns.
