Making Micro-Credentials Work: How Short Learning Formats Can Meet Emerging Skills Needs
Dr. Julius D. Somera, Dean of Trinity Open University of Asia, participated in the Lillehammer Lifelong Learning Virtual Conference 2025 on February 12, 2025. Hosted by INN University, in collaboration with the Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills and ICDE, the event explored how micro-credentials can address global skills gaps.
The discussions focused on short and flexible learning formats, addressing skills gaps, learning pathways, accreditation, and workforce development applications. With 500+ participants from 70+ countries, the conference underscored the growing importance of micro-credentials in education and employment. It set the stage for the 2027 in-person Lillehammer conference, part of the EMERGE Alliance’s broader initiative.
