Quick Response Contains Fire at Anne Keim Barsam Hall Construction Site

A fire incident occurred at the Anne Keim Barsam Hall construction site last April 9, 2026, at around 10:15 AM. It was brought under control within minutes through the immediate response of those on site and the support of emergency responders.
Security personnel and construction workers moved quickly, initiating emergency protocols and using available fire extinguishers to contain the situation despite heavy smoke. Their quick thinking helped keep things from escalating.

External responders, including the Bureau of Fire Protection, arrived shortly after and ensured the fire was fully extinguished. They were joined by police personnel, DPOS staff who assisted with traffic management, and various emergency response groups and ambulance services who supported the operation on the ground. Personnel from nearby Montgomery Place also stepped in to help by providing fire hoses during the response.
The University also recognizes the support of partner responders and organizations who extended assistance during the incident, as well as the security personnel deployed on campus whose quick action and adherence to safety protocols were crucial in managing the situation. The fire was declared out at approximately 10:35 AM.
We extend our sincere thanks to the BFP and all responders who arrived and took charge of the situation, as well as to the security personnel and workers who acted without hesitation in those first few minutes.
While this incident was contained shortly after it was reported, we are continuing to review and strengthen our safety measures so situations like this are less likely to happen again and the campus remains a safe place for everyone.
