TUA College of Allied Health Sciences Receives Donation of Advanced Spirometer
On May 3, 2023, TUA College of Allied Health Sciences was honored to welcome Ms. Mary Grace L. Abe, RTRP, a generous donor who provided the Department of Respiratory Therapy with a Spirobank II Advanced Handheld On-PC Spirometer with Oximetry. Ms. Abe is a good friend and a RT colleague of the Respiratory Department Head, Dr. Noel Tiburcio. Ms. Abe had full confidence in TUA’s ability to put the device to good use as an excellent teaching tool for our BS Respiratory Therapy students, which was why she generously entrusted it to the college.
To celebrate this momentous occasion, a turnover ceremony was held at the college’s Respiratory Simulation Laboratory, with a number of special guests in attendance. The ceremony was attended by TUA President Dr. Gisela Luna, VPAA Dr. Howell Ho, VPAF Ms. Matilde Asuncion, the College Dean Dr. Rufo Aggarao, the Respiratory Therapy Department Head Dr. Noel Tiburcio, and AIRGEO Manager, Mr. Caleb Coniate, all of whom expressed their gratitude for Ms. Abe’s contribution to the college’s educational resources.
This MIR Spirobank Advanced II is a valuable addition to the Respiratory Therapy Department’s equipment, as it is a portable diagnostic device used to measure the amount of air inside the lungs to help diagnose respiratory problems such as asthma and COPD (emphysema and chronic bronchitis).
The TUA College of Allied Health Sciences is grateful to Ms. Abe for her generosity and support, and looks forward to utilizing the MIR Spirobank Advanced II to enhance the education and training of its students in the Respiratory Therapy Department. This donation is a testament to the power of community support and the importance of investing in the future of healthcare.
With this donation, TUA’s students will have access to the latest technology in the field of respiratory therapy, allowing them to receive the best possible education and training for their future careers.
