The Years Dr. Gisela de Asas-Luna Shared with TUA

Some university relationships are built over years, through different roles and different seasons of work. Dr. Gisela de Asas-Luna’s connection with Trinity University of Asia spans more than two decades.
She first came to TUA as a student. She later served as a faculty member, Dean of the St. Luke’s College of Nursing (SLCN), and Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) before becoming University President on January 1, 2022. She became the first TUA alumna to serve as President.
During her presidency, Dr. Luna led the University through several important developments. TUA achieved milestones in accreditation and institutional status, expanded its academic offerings, developed lifelong learning pathways, and pursued major campus and digital projects. Her administration also supported faculty and staff development and strengthened partnerships with institutions in the Philippines and abroad.
Her presidency also came with its share of difficult circumstances. Through the pandemic and other disruptions, the University worked to keep classes going and sustain its operations. Campus improvements and digital development helped provide greater continuity for students and the wider TUA community.
On December 31, 2026, Dr. Luna will retire from her role as University President.
Her presidency now comes to a close, while her connection with TUA will continue. Following her retirement, she has been appointed as one of the members of the Board of Advisers of Trinity University of Asia.
For a University she has known as a student, educator, academic leader, and President, this next role keeps her connected to the institution she has served for many years.
As she takes on this new role, the University looks back with appreciation for the many years Dr. Luna has shared with TUA and the people who make up its community.
Thank you, Dr. Luna, for the years you have given to Trinity University of Asia.
