What Does Universityhood Mean After 20 Years

Trinity University of Asia has been part of the educational community for more than six decades. In 2006, Trinity College of Quezon City (TCQC) became Trinity University of Asia. Twenty years later, the University continues to build on that chapter of its institutional history.

The 20th Universityhood Celebration on September 18, 2026 gave the TUA community an opportunity to consider what these two decades have meant for the University and the people who have been part of them.

The day began with the Universityhood Mass and Commitment Ceremony at the Holy Trinity Chapel. The Universityhood tradition was observed alongside the dedication of student leaders and faculty advisers. Student officers also took their Oath of Office and signed the Commitment Board to declare an advocacy they intend to serve. The ceremony connected the responsibilities of student leadership with TUA’s Core Values and the 5 Marks of Mission.

The celebration then moved across the campus through the Prayer Walk for the Environment. Five stations focused on Land, Air, Water, Self, and Others. Each station gave participants a way to consider stewardship in relation to creation, personal well-being, and the people around them. The walk placed environmental responsibility within the life of the University and its faith tradition.

At the exhibit, student work gave another expression to universityhood. Classroom outputs and other learning-based work showed how students put their ideas into action. The displays traced how individual initiative can lead to collaboration and how student work can respond to concerns within and beyond the University.

The celebration closed with Dayaw, a student-led praise and worship program centered on the need for rest in the midst of leadership. Personal testimonies spoke honestly about academic pressure, organizational responsibilities, and the challenges of student leadership. The program gave student leaders time to listen to one another and regain the strength to serve.

The 20th Universityhood celebration was organized by the University Student Council (USC), with the support of the Student Affairs Center (SAC) and the Office of the University Chaplain (OUC), alongside University-wide organizations, Local Student Councils and their sub-organizations, faculty advisers, student volunteers, and the wider TUA community.

Twenty years of universityhood is a story that continues through the people who make TUA what it is.
