Austrian government officials visit TUA to explore potential partnership in providing more opportunities for Filipino nurses

Austrian Federal Economic Chamber officials led by Austrian Chamber of Economics Section Health Care Facilities Chairman Günther Wiesinger and by The Vienna Social Fund (FSW) Care and Assistance Head Monika Badilla visited TUA on Tuesday, 19 April, to discuss with Univ. Pres. Gisela DA Luna the current demand for Filipino nurses in the Philippines and overseas.

In the said meeting at the TUA Executive Board Room, Dr. Luna, along with St. Luke’s College of Nursing (SLCN) Dean John Lorena, presented the capabilities of top Philippine schools for nursing such as SLCN in producing world-class health care professionals and the possibilities expected by seasoned and new nurses alike. Dr. Luna also indicated the constant need for collaboration among educational institutions worldwide in providing means to realizing the transnational perspective of all future professionals, not only nurses.

Dr. Wiesinger and Ms. Badilla expressed their appreciation of TUA for having SLCN, the first school for nursing in the Philippines, and hopes of continuous strong partnership between Austria and the Philippines. They also indicated continuous exchange with TUA.

Other officials present in the important meeting were Angelika Kulhanek (Advisor for the Austrian Association of Healthcare Facilities, Austrian Federal Economic Chamber) Thomas Kissich (Director, Malteser Ordenshaus gemeinnützige Pflegebetriebs GmbH) Dr. Howell Ho (VP for Academic Affairs, TUA) and Caleb Donne Coniate (Manager, AIRGEO, TUA).
